Jobs at small Phoenix companies nobody posts about - what worked for you?

Two small Phoenix employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. There are 8 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. They like a brief email with a résumé. Does anyone have similar leads?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 5 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
