Jobs at small Memphis companies nobody posts about - what worked for you?

Two small Memphis employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. I do not usually post, so bear with me. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Visiting in person worked for a trades job. For office jobs, email was better.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
