Jobs at small Detroit companies nobody posts about (update)

Two small Detroit employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. It has been a long 18 weeks. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Small employers often hire on recommendation. Ask neighbours, former co-workers and your library.
