Jobs at small Cincinnati companies nobody posts about (update)

A friend who works at a local manufacturer says there are openings not advertised online. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. What do you write in a cold email?

Keep a list of who you contacted and when. It makes follow-ups easy.
