Jobs at small Chicago companies nobody posts about - any advice?

Two small Chicago employers told me they are hiring but have not posted yet. I worked as an insurance claims processor before this. One is a print shop, one is an accounting firm and one is a clinic. Does anyone have similar leads?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 5 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep a list of who you contacted and when. It makes follow-ups easy.
