Jobs at small Buffalo companies nobody posts about - what worked for you?

A friend who works at a local manufacturer says there are openings not advertised online. I worked as a mechanic before this. They like a brief email with a résumé. Does anyone have similar leads?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
