Jobs at small Birmingham companies nobody posts about (update)

A friend who works at a local manufacturer says there are openings not advertised online. This is my first time dealing with any of this. They prefer people who can start within a couple of weeks. Should I visit in person?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
