Hiring several warehouse roles around Hartford - any advice?

A distribution centre near Hartford is holding hiring sessions this week for packers, pickers and forklift operators. I worked as a line cook before this. They said to bring ID and a work history, and some people were hired on the spot. Do they hire temps first?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
