Hiring now: drivers with a commercial licence near Birmingham - what worked for you?

Several delivery companies in Birmingham are hiring drivers with clean records. I have been trying to stay organised about it. They list a sign-on bonus and weekly pay. Are the local runs really home every night?

Ask how many stops and hours a typical day has. The pay per hour dropped when my route was longer than advertised.
