Hiring now: drivers with a commercial licence near Birmingham - any advice?

A regional carrier near Birmingham is hiring drivers for local runs with home time every night. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Some offer paid training for a commercial licence. Are the local runs really home every night?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 5 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
