Flexible shifts hiring in Milwaukee - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Milwaukee are hiring part-time staff. There are 10 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. They can give a schedule two weeks ahead. Has anyone worked these shifts?

Ask whether the schedule is posted in advance and how they handle swaps. It matters a lot with kids.
