Flexible shifts hiring in Kansas City - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Kansas City are hiring part-time staff. I am in Kansas City, in case local advice matters. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. Is the schedule really fixed?

Ask whether the schedule is posted in advance and how they handle swaps. It matters a lot with kids.

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.
