Flexible shifts hiring in Jacksonville - any advice?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Jacksonville are hiring part-time staff. This is my first time dealing with any of this. They can give a schedule two weeks ahead.

Ask whether the schedule is posted in advance and how they handle swaps. It matters a lot with kids.
