Fair-chance hiring leads - any advice?

I found a second-chance hiring list from a workforce board. I am in Oklahoma City, in case local advice matters. They still run a background check later but consider it case by case. Any other leads?

Be honest, brief and forward-looking when you talk about it. They care more about what you did since.
