Fair-chance hiring leads - any advice?

A few employers in Fresno say they hire people with a record, including a manufacturer and a warehouse. There are 9 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Pay starts at an hourly rate with benefits after 9 months. Has anyone worked at these places?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
