Fair-chance hiring leads - any advice?

I found a second-chance hiring list from a workforce board. This is my first time dealing with any of this. They still run a background check later but consider it case by case. Has anyone worked at these places?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
