Evening and part-time openings around Toledo - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Toledo are hiring part-time staff. I am in Toledo, in case local advice matters. They can give a schedule two weeks ahead. Is the schedule really fixed?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
