Evening and part-time openings around San Diego - any advice?

A grocery chain and a hotel near San Diego are hiring part-time staff. Any experience at all would help. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. How many hours do they guarantee?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.

Ask whether the schedule is posted in advance and how they handle swaps. It matters a lot with kids.
