Evening and part-time openings around Phoenix - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Phoenix are hiring part-time staff. This is my first time dealing with any of this. Some roles have a small tuition benefit. Is the schedule really fixed?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.
