Evening and part-time openings around Jacksonville - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Jacksonville are hiring part-time staff. There are 14 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. Is the schedule really fixed?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.
