Evening and part-time openings around Hartford - any advice?

I am looking for part-time work that fits around school hours and found a few evening shifts near Hartford. They can give a schedule two weeks ahead. Is the schedule really fixed?

Check how they treat part-time staff for benefits. Some add them after a set number of hours.
