Evening and part-time openings around Chicago - what worked for you?

A grocery chain and a hotel near Chicago are hiring part-time staff. I worked as an accountant before this. Shifts are four to six hours and the pay is weekly. Is the schedule really fixed?

I got the job by going in around mid-morning and asking for the manager. Worth a try.
