Employers that hire people with a record, Phoenix - what worked for you?

I got a lead on a company that does not ask about convictions on the first application. I am in Phoenix, in case local advice matters. The HR contact was kind and direct.

Check your record before you apply so nothing surprises you. A free legal clinic helped me look.
