Employers that hire people with a record, Kansas City - any advice?

A few employers in Kansas City say they hire people with a record, including a manufacturer and a warehouse. I am in Kansas City, in case local advice matters. They still run a background check later but consider it case by case. Has anyone worked at these places?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
