Employers that hire people with a record, Detroit - any advice?

I found a second-chance hiring list from a workforce board. Pay starts at an hourly rate with benefits after 6 months. Has anyone worked at these places?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
