Employers that hire people with a record, Cincinnati - any advice?

I found a second-chance hiring list from a workforce board. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. They still run a background check later but consider it case by case. Any other leads?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 4 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
