Distribution centre hiring near San Diego - what worked for you?

A distribution centre near San Diego is holding hiring sessions this week for packers, pickers and forklift operators. There are 3 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The posting lists shifts, a weekly pay schedule and overtime. Do they hire temps first?

I applied for a similar job last year and the drug screen and background check took about a week. Bring two forms of ID.
