Distribution centre hiring near Buffalo - any advice?

A logistics company in Buffalo is adding people before the busy season. This is my first time dealing with any of this. They said to bring ID and a work history, and some people were hired on the spot. Do they hire temps first?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 4 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
