County job postings worth checking - what worked for you?

The city and county near Salt Lake City both posted administrative and maintenance openings this week. I do not usually post, so bear with me. Hiring is slower than private jobs.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

The exam was simple, mostly clerical skills. Practice material is usually on the same website.
