County job postings worth checking - what worked for you?

I found several public-sector postings with benefits and a steady schedule. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Applications close on a fixed date and need a full work history. Do they prefer local residents?

The exam was simple, mostly clerical skills. Practice material is usually on the same website.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
