County job postings worth checking - any advice?

I found several public-sector postings with benefits and a steady schedule. I worked as a paralegal before this. Hiring is slower than private jobs. Anyone applied for one?

The exam was simple, mostly clerical skills. Practice material is usually on the same website.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
