County job postings worth checking - any advice?

The city and county near Milwaukee both posted administrative and maintenance openings this week. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Applications close on a fixed date and need a full work history. Do they prefer local residents?

Follow the instructions exactly. They screen out applications with missing sections.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
