Apprenticeship openings for electricians and welders - what worked for you?

The training centre near Omaha opened applications for apprenticeships in electrical and welding trades. I am in Omaha, in case local advice matters. Classes are in the evening and work is during the day. Did anyone go through it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
