Apprenticeship openings for electricians and welders - any advice?

The training centre near Phoenix opened applications for apprenticeships in electrical and welding trades. Thank you in advance. Applications close in 22 weeks. What do you wish you had known?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
