Who watches the kids during interviews? (update)

The daycare near me wants more than I can pay. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I looked into subsidies but the forms are long. How long did subsidies take?

I swapped afternoons with another parent. It took some planning and saved us both money.

Libraries and community centres run free activities that gave me a couple of hours.
