Which free résumé tools do you trust? - any advice?

I need a résumé template that passes automated screening. Any experience at all would help. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little. Are there tools to avoid?

Use a plain one-column résumé with standard headings. Mine got more replies after I simplified it.
