Which free résumé tools do you trust? - any advice?

I need a résumé template that passes automated screening. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little. Are there tools to avoid?

A simple spreadsheet with company, date, contact and next step was all I needed.

Set a weekly follow-up reminder on your phone. It is free and effective.
