Which free résumé tools do you trust? - 9 months and counting

I am tracking my applications in a notebook and want something better. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. I do not want to pay for premium features. Are there tools to avoid?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 9 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Your library may offer free access to paid learning and résumé services. Mine did.
