What does your daily routine look like while job hunting? - any advice?

Since my layoff as a software tester I have no real structure. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I tried blocking out hours for applications but I lose steam by noon. How many hours do you really work on the search?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
