Transit passes and rides for job seekers - what worked for you?

I need a cheap way to get to several appointments. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I can walk part of the way. What do you use?

Our transit agency has a reduced-fare pass for people with low income. The application took a week.

If you can, schedule interviews back to back in the same area to save fares.
