Transit passes and rides for job seekers - any advice?

The bus takes almost an hour to reach the places hiring as a bookkeeper. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I can walk part of the way. Are there discounted passes?

I planned routes the night before with a trip planner and left twenty minutes early.

Our transit agency has a reduced-fare pass for people with low income. The application took a week.
