This community helped me more than I expected after 8 years as a security officer

I posted here 21 weeks ago when I was panicking about my layoff as a security officer. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am still searching but I have a plan. What would help newcomers most?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
