Simple budget for a tight month - what worked for you?

We are a household of 7 and the budget no longer works. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I am nervous about falling behind. Did lenders work with you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
