Simple budget for a tight month - what worked for you?

My income is now a fraction of what it was as a web developer and I am trying to cover the essentials. I do not usually post, so bear with me. The rent is fixed and the car payment is high. What helped you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
