Recommendations for free job-search tools - what worked for you?

I am looking for free tools that do not spam me. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I want reminders to follow up. Are there tools to avoid?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 9 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

A simple spreadsheet with company, date, contact and next step was all I needed.
