I am looking for free tools that do not spam me. This is my first time dealing with any of this. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little. What do you use?

Use a plain one-column résumé with standard headings. Mine got more replies after I simplified it.

A simple spreadsheet with company, date, contact and next step was all I needed.
