Recommendations for free job-search tools - 6 months and counting

I am tracking my applications in a notebook and want something better. I worked as a pharmacy technician before this. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Use a plain one-column résumé with standard headings. Mine got more replies after I simplified it.
