Places that helped me after losing my job - what worked for you?

I want to share what helped me after being laid off as a janitorial supervisor in San Diego. I have been trying to stay organised about it. A food pantry near me has evening hours. Has anyone used the tax clinics?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
