Places that helped me after losing my job - what worked for you?

I found a few free services in Fresno that I did not know about. The workforce centre ran a weekly job club. What else is out there?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 5 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
