Places that helped me after losing my job - what worked for you?

I found a few free services in Charlotte that I did not know about. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The workforce centre ran a weekly job club. Any other programmes worth trying?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
